The community platform for sustainable climbing trips

Traveling by public transport is often complicated - even when climbing, you are faced with many question marks when choosing and accessing areas. Especially on vacation, planning can be a real challenge due to the lack of information. Having made a few trips by bike and train for climbing myself, I dreamed of information for Ecopoint climbing trips.

I wanted the information to be free and accessible to everyone. And that all climbers could contribute their Ecopoint knowledge. Because there are so many of us who sometimes take the bike or the train to go climbing and so we could learn from the experiences of other climbers.

I then spent a year working with a web developer on the concept, financing and implementation of the website. The result was the Ecopoint Climbing website, which was published by the non-profit association IG Klettern und Bergsport Allgäu e. V. in 2023.

At the heart of the website are the Ecopoint climbing trips, which anyone can contribute to the website. Using a map or filter function, these areas then serve as inspiration for other climbers for their next Ecopoint climbing trip.

In addition, various Ecopoint resources are available, such as tips and tricks and regional guides that show how climbing areas can be reached in a climate-friendly way: for example, for sport climbing in Innsbruck, in the Franconian Jura or for multi-pitch climbing in Grenoble.

If you are looking for inspiration for Ecopoint, you can also find films and the Ecopoint Climbing Instagram channel. You can also collect and share some Ecopoint impressions under the hashtag #ecopointclimbing.

If you would also like to share an Ecopoint climbing trip, resources or inspiration, you can find more information here. A big thank you goes out to the previous climbers for sharing their Ecopoint experiences and for the wonderful feedback! Let's all support and spread the word about climate-friendly travel in climbing together!

Many thanks to our supporters who have made it possible to provide the website free of charge. We are still happy to receive support through donations! Many thanks to Edelrid, who supported us in the development of the Ecopoint logo.
