You can simulate realistic fall scenarios on the fall simulator to train your reactions and techniques. Through targeted exercises and tests, your belaying behavior will be analyzed and optimized. Finally, we will explore the limits with belay devices and investigate when systems fail.
Special Techniques of Alpine Climbing
This exclusive alpine climbing course is designed for experienced climbers who want to expand their technical and tactical capabilities. Specialized techniques for big walls, challenging free climbs, and fast ascents will be taught. This compact format is made possible by the EDELRID training hall, where various scenarios can be easily represented.
The course includes tactics for long routes, optimizing processes in belaying techniques, climbing and rappelling with single ropes and rappel lines, hauling a backpack or haul bag with a tag line, shortening the rope with rope management, simultaneous climbing with back-up devices, as well as comprehensive equipment knowledge.
Masterclass on Equipment Knowledge and Belaying Techniques
Discuss current topics with experts and test materials and belaying techniques in the lab or in our fall testing facilities. This advanced climbing course provides firsthand expertise on personal protective equipment (PPE) and its application in mountaineering.
Participants have the opportunity to bring in their own topics or choose from the following focal points: Cut resistance of ropes, dynamic load applications in rope clamps and clamping knots, properties of textile materials, incorrect operation of belay devices, body belaying versus fixed point belaying at the belay station as well as soft belaying and the classification of friction enhancers
Placing and Assesing Bolts
In this advanced climbing course, you will learn how to set and assess bolts safely and effectively in natural rock climbing in accordance with EN 959. You will learn the basics of setting bolts, including how they work and the advantages and disadvantages of different systems. You will also learn how to select the right systems and materials for the rock in question. In practical exercises, you will set bolts under supervision and evaluate their placement. Quality control is carried out by means of pull-out tests to check reliability. In addition, criteria for evaluating existing bolts as well as important aspects of deflections and belays are taught. This course is ideal for climbers and area supervisors who want to deepen their knowledge.
