Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is not fully compliant with the accessibility regulations that apply to us. In detail:

Incompatibility with accessibility legislation

The content listed below does not comply with the relevant accessibility legislation:

  • Keyboard operability:
Some areas of the website cannot be fully operated using the keyboard. This particularly affects the main navigation and modal elements such as the shopping cart slideout, the modal for changing products in the shopping cart and the size table.
  • Assistive technologies:
No jump links (e.g. “Jump to main content”) have been implemented to date, which makes navigation with assistive technologies more difficult.
  • Contrasts and color communication:
The size selection on the product detail pages is displayed exclusively via colors, without additional textual or symbolic identification. User-defined color settings in forms are currently not supported. In addition, not all color combinations meet the required minimum contrasts.
  • Control elements and ARIA tags:
Not all interactive elements are provided with meaningful ARIA attributes. These include in particular: Color selection, size selection, the logo, carousel control arrows, navigation icons, and buttons to close modals and pop-ups.
  • Alternative texts:
Meaningful alternative texts are not assigned to all embedded multimedia content.
  • Animated content (e.g. GIFs):
Silent video files (e.g. GIFs) are used to convey content without providing this information in an alternative form (e.g. as text).
  • Checkboxes:
The size of individual checkboxes is too small to make them accessible. Interactive elements The activation and deactivation of interactive components is currently not consistently accessible.
  • Filter and search function:
The structure and usability of the filter and search function do not fully meet the requirements for accessible web design. Heading structure: The visual hierarchy of the headings is not always correctly marked by semantic HTML.
  • Zoom function in the browser:
The website can only be used to a limited extent when enlarged (e.g. 200%). Navigation in particular is not accessible in this state.
  • Forms:
Form elements do not always have the necessary accessibility attributes. Error messages are not displayed correctly and feedback on password strength is not sufficiently understandable.
  • Time-limited content:
Content with a time limit, such as header banners or temporary information boxes, cannot be paused, extended or deactivated.
  • Visual and technical order:
The order of the content on the page does not always match the logical structure in the source code. For example, the breadcrumb navigation element on product detail pages is located below the product image in the code, although it is visually displayed above it.

Disproportionate burden

The following content is not made accessible because this would result in a disproportionate burden for us:

The full implementation of accessibility currently represents a disproportionate burden within the meaning of Section 12a (6) BGG or Article 5 of EU Directive 2016/2102. The online store is based on an existing technical infrastructure, the comprehensive barrier-free adaptation of which would involve considerable personnel, financial and organizational effort. In view of the fact that the fundamental realignment and a possible complete relaunch of the store system are currently being examined, the immediate implementation of all necessary accessibility measures is not economically justifiable.

Naturally, we are striving to achieve significantly improved accessibility with the planned rebuild of the store.

Evaluation method

Accessibility was tested using the BITV self-test.
