Rope climbing technique: What content is taught?

Learn the rope climbing techniques for working safely in trees: We offer a range of courses from the basic rope climbing techniques course at level A (SKT-A) to courses on arboriculture and the advanced rope climbing techniques course at advanced training level B (SKT-B) for working in trees with a chainsaw.

Participants benefit from our strong partner network of instructors, the training opportunities at the Isny site and the opportunity to borrow and test personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • SKT-A Course

    The basic course, rope climbing techniques at advanced training level A, teaches the basics of safe and independent climbing in trees and canopy areas. Know-how such as risk assessment, pruning and setting up construction sites are part of the training. After the course, participants will be able to use a handsaw on the outside of the treetop. An important part of the course is the rescue of helpless persons from the tree. The course lasts 5 days including theory and examination.

    The Isny location offers the advantage of state-of-the-art training rooms and at the same time the possibility of combining the courses with a visit to the rope production plant.

    Rental equipment for the training can be provided and tested.

  • SKT-B Course

    In the advanced course, rope climbing techniques SKT-B, participants learn the extended PPE for handling chainsaws in trees. Rigging and cutting techniques for controlled felling are also taught. An essential part of the training is the handling and rescue with tree crampons, external branch rescue and rescue from the ascent system. The course lasts 5 days including theory and examination.

    The Isny location offers the advantage of state-of-the-art training rooms and at the same time the possibility of combining the courses with a visit to the rope production plant.

    Rental equipment for the training can be provided and tested.

  • BBK specialist knowledge in tree assessment (for SKT-A)

    This course provides the specialist knowledge required to assess trees and forms the basis for the safe identification of tree-related hazards in the risk assessment (tree approach). It is a prerequisite for tree climbers and ideal for interested career changers in tree care.

    The course covers the basics of tree biology, including the assessment of tree vitality, as well as an introduction to tree statics. Participants learn how to recognize symptoms of tree damage and gain in-depth knowledge of pests and diseases that can affect the stability of trees. Practical exercises on tree assessment and hazard identification round off the course.
