For a Clearer Overview and Better Organization
What is RFID?
RFID is a technology for transmitter-receiver systems for automatic and contactless data transmission using electromagnetic waves. An RFID system consists of:
- a transponder located on or in the product
- an identifying code (e.g. serial number)
- a reader for reading the ID
EDELRID only uses transponders in the UHF range. One particular advantage of UHF transponders is that they can be activated by a scanner and do not require their own power source. When using UHF, low-cost, individual transponders can be used. This technology is also significantly less susceptible to interference from metal components. With passive transponders, ranges of 2 to 6 meters can be achieved without negatively affecting the read speed. In practical application, the digital readability saves time and money, the permanent product identification considerably extends the service life of PPE products, and the human error chain is significantly shortened.
All benefits at a glance:
- Increases time and cost efficiency
- Reduces human error sources
- Extends the product life
How does RFID work?
The RFID reader can be used with any end device that has a Bluetooth® interface. It is independent from the software.
- Connect the RFID reader to the end device.
- Open the PPE management software of your choice (e.g. Excel, PSA-Audit 2.0 etc.).
- Select the field to which you want to read the serial number.
- The RFID transponder and serial number are read automatically.
RFID Inside
EDELRID offers a range of products with integrated RFID transponders. Furthermore, all PPE products can be retrofitted with our RFID transponders. The transponders used have been specially designed for use with PPE products and are particularly small and robust. They communicate in the UHF frequency range and can be read with appropriate readers.
