All other functions and features are the same as the PINCH: As a versatile belay device for climbing, you can use it for sport climbing, multi-pitch climbing, and rope access techniques. The PINCH UNICORN can be attached directly to the central ring of your climbing harness – a true innovation in the belay device market! This close-to-the-body position offers key advantages: you don’t need to fix the PINCH UNICORN when releasing rope, and you can always grip the brake rope with all fingers. The compact system also provides an increased span – the belayer can pay out about 20 - 30 cm more rope in one motion. The frontal steel braking grooves enable a linear rope run through and reduce rope tangles when lowering or abseiling. These grooves can also be used to control speed by applying pressure with the braking hand in addition to the lowering lever. This is especially helpful for thin, soft ropes, improving braking rope control. An extra layer of safety, not only for beginners, is provided by the anti-panic function. Another feature is the integrated second braking tier, which makes lowering very light climbers or in systems with high rope friction more controlled by pulling the lever further. Using the included screw, the anti-panic function can also be permanently deactivated – recommended only for rope access professionals and experienced users. And for those aiming high: in multi-pitch lengths, the PINCH UNICORN offers another advantage – it’s the only belay device on the market that can be attached to the belay station in four directions in 90° increments, keeping the lowering lever freely accessible.
