Vitus Wuhrer (30) has been strengthening the Board of Directors of EDELRID GmbH & Co.KG since August 1, 2022. Together with his father, Albrecht von Dewitz, and Markus Wanner, Vitus Wuhrer will be responsible for the strategic orientation of the traditional company from southern Germany and drive its business activities on an international level. Wuhrer himself has been Head of Supply Chain Management at EDELRID for the last five years. In his new role, the industrial and textile engineer (MA) will draw on his experience in the fields of procurement and lo- gistics, his personal interest in product development and innovation, and his passion for climbing and mountain sports.

“It’s a privilege for me to work for EDELRID as this is the company that introduced me to climbing. I want to inject this joy into my new role in order to help shape our direction, solidify our values, and ultimately further the brand’s success”, says Vitus Wuhrer as a new member of the EDELRID Board of Directors, adding: “As Head of Supply Chain Management, I spent over five years dealing intensively with our supply chains and thus the supporting pillars of the company. Now, I’m delighted to be able to focus more on the market, sport sales, and product development”.

The company specializes in the manufacture of PPE products, i.e. products classed as personal protective equipment. These are used for sport climbing, alpinism, and mountaineering as well as for professional uses such as rope access or tree care. As such, the business areas are divided into Sport and Professional.

Managing Director Markus Wanner has been with the company for twenty years. Thanks to Vitus Wuhrer joining the Board, responsibilities within the Sport and Profes- sional business units are now divided. “The market has been experiencing dynamic growth for the last few years. I’m therefore delighted that Vitus is bringing fresh blood and new ideas to the team to help us deal with the rapid changes and many require- ments placed on the company. We’ve already worked closely over the last five years and I’m certain that, together, we’ll be able to successfully develop EDELRID even further”, says Markus Wanner, member of the EDELRID Board of Directors.

Albrecht von Dewitz proudly welcomed his son Vitus Wuhrer to his company’s Board of Directors with the words “Just do it”. “With Vitus joining the Board of Directors, a dream has come true for me. When I took over the company in 2006, it was still a rough diamond with about 70 employees. Today, it’s a successful global player with over 220 employees, which has particularly made a name for itself through its in-house rope production. I wish my son a lot of power for his start and the courage to change things wherever necessary, and, above all, that he never stops enjoying what he does!” says Albrecht von Dewitz, EDELRID CEO and founder of the sister company VAUDE Sport GmbH & Co. KG.
